The flight, carrying 55 passengers, was en route to Guri’eel in Galgaduud, Galmudug state.
According to eyewitness reports, the plane encountered technical difficulties minutes after takeoff.
The pilot attempted an emergency landing along the shoreline near the airport, but engine malfunctions and damaged wings prevented full control of the aircraft.
